His Excellency, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali - President of Guyana
Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali is Guyana’s Ninth Executive President (since August 2, 2020). He was born on April 25, 1980, in Leonora, and was educated at Leonora schools, Cornelia Ida Primary, and St. Stanislaus College. He holds multiple academic qualifications, including a Doctorate in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of the West Indies, as well as degrees in business, law, finance, and planning from international institutions. Before becoming President, he served as a Project Manager and Senior Planner and later entered politics in 2006 as a Member of Parliament. He has held key ministerial roles, including Minister of Housing and Water and Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, and is known for having spearheaded major housing development initiatives in Guyana. Dr. Ali is married and a father of two.
