Komal Samaroo is Executive Chairman of Demerara Distillers Limited, producer of El Dorado Rum, and has played a central role in the company’s growth over the past five decades, including as former Managing Director and Vice President, International Marketing. He also chairs Demerara Bank Limited, Diamond Fire and General Insurance Inc., and the Institute of Private Enterprise Development Limited (IPED). A Chartered Accountant and Fellow of ACCA since 1983, Mr. Samaroo has received two national awards: the Cacique’s Crown of Honour in 2018 for his contribution to business development, and the Golden Arrow of Achievement in 1993 for distinguished service in financial management and business.
